New Vintage Dresses

Do you know how many nice vintage dresses you can choose from if you have a waist size 20-22 inches? Many! But unfortunately I don’t. I am a normal size medium, so I felt very lucky when I found this ”fifties in the eighties” dress at Etsy:

It is really lovely. The cape detail at the top makes it super elegant and the tie-string at the waist gives a nice figure. I have already planned to wear it at DH’s fifties birthday in August. It cost about 35 dollars, and the nice seller (in fact I have only met super nice sellers at Etsy.com) gave me a 20 per cent discount, so it wasn’t hard to decide on this one too:
I suppose it is from the early seventies, but it is so sweet and different from anything else I have in my wardrobe. I really like the tiny rose buds, but I don’t know about the tie-string. I have tried with other belts, but it is not really good, so the hunt for a nice belt has started in the charity shops.

Trille, My Dad’s First Car

It is time for a car story.

Trille (translates to Rolling) was my dad’s first car, a rotten Morris 8 from 1936, which his parents gave him for his 18 year old birthday. It was so rusty that he literally went through the bottom of it, but I suppose it was what they could afford. Dad wanted an MG, but it is very expensive, so the Morris almost had the look.
Dad’s half-brother got a tiny summer cottage which now serves as a shed between my sister’s and my own summer cottages. My dad’s master said he could renovate the car in the garage at his job. He separated it completely, repaired everything – new springs, new bottom, new hood, and had it painted. About half a year  later  he could drive it out of the garage.
Aren’t they sweet? My parents in 1965.

But Trille could not cope with dad’s way of driving - in dad’s own words, he was a young lout who flew too low. When they drove from Copenhagen to the Isle of Moen it broke down several times, and dad repaired it by the roadside. To make it fly a little faster, he put an Austin Sprite engine in it, but he says that it perhaps was a little too much.
When I was a very little girl, I stood on the back seat (no such things as safety belts, child seats or stuff like that back then) fondling dad's hair resulting in a running eye. I think I had been standing beside a crack in the hood, but no one understood why I always had a running eye.

Dad had Trille for eight years then he sold her to a guy from the street, who was a musician.

I have always loved Trille and still thinks it is the sweetest car ever. Many years later a new Trille came into our family – son’s vintage pedal car, which his grandpa found at the dump site and his dad renovated :

Love is ...

Missing the target:
I’ve been with DH for 32 years, and many think we never fight. We do, although it is very rare, but last Sunday he made me very angry. The cup missed the target (DH), so our nice display cabinet broke. I spent most of the morning tidying up and cleaning – a half cup of coffee spreads widely when you throw it.

I’m not got at aiming - fortunately!

World's Easiest Mani

I call it a "reverse manicure", super easy and very simple, but it always gets noticed everywhere:Son did a great job taking the photo so my hands didn't look "wrinkled like and eighty year old!". Thanks sonny. The angle is a bit weird. To the mani you need two reverse colours that matches and then paint the four fingers of each hand in each colour and reverse the thumb nails.

Here are som exaples of "reverse" colours I've used:Nails Inc that looks like minced pork (ough!) and Essie's wonderful Navigate Her. Nails Inc is only bought to decorate on the top of my nail polish drawer where I have a small collection of nice and funny polish bottles:This Essie combination was used much last summer:Lovie Dovie and Lapis of Luxury.
These two are bought via a nail blogger in Australia and they are so great together:
You can also decorate further with e.g. dots or French glitter edges.
